The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration reports a near-miss incident involving an Air Canada jet at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York on Monday.
The FAA says the pilots of a Republic Airways flight took evasive action after the jet missed its intended approach and flew too close to the Air Canada plane.
Monday’s incident comes after two Canadian pilots were killed when an Air Canada jet collided with a fire truck at New York’s LaGuardia Airport last month.
(As an fyi – AC was coming in on ILS and the Republic was on VLS. The Republic plane ending up flying through the approach path and began its descent heading towards 17R instead of 17L. Both cockpits and the tower’s warning systems went off and the planes quickly veered off. It’s estimated the two planes were about 350 ft apart.

i don’t understand how this is happening in the biggest/richest city in america…
i get that there are staff shortages and everything, but shouldn’t NYC of all places get some special treatment to cover up the problems? if this happened in some podunk city, i wouldn’t be surprised… but rich people fly in and out of NYC all the time. you’d think they’d get someone to fix the problem ASAP.
Elon and trump gutted the FAA
Elon and trumpRonald Reagan gutted the FAAThey all did
Source?
That was 40 years ago. Did Clinton, Obama or Biden fix it or did they just kick the ball forward like most things?
Same thing bush sr and Bush jr and Trump did
America hates funding its infrastructure, which is why you pray on every old bridge crossing.
Like any good politician they kicked it for someone else to take care of.
Rich enough people don’t fly commercial (like, say, Doug Ford was trying to get away with), so would they also be landing at commercial airports, or would they be diverted to another airport with better staffing?
Drug Fraud will still be not flying commercial. He’ll use OPP regional jets.
A smaller city wouldn’t be as likely to have the amount of traffic needed for these kinds of incidents.
