They think modders would rescue this one.

TBF i finally finished oblivion thanks tonthe remake, the possibility of play using my gamepad natively and the changes to the graphics and art style (come from no art direction to have some art direction), finally allow mw to finish the main quest.

Of course, i didn’t corrected the poor writing, the repetitive gameplay and dungeons and the shallow quest design…

Still wait for Skyblivion, and the best Cyrodiil experience i have it was on Project Cyrodiil: Abecean Shores for Morrowind

Wow its like when it came out and I said that Bethesda was just trying to do a shitty cash grab version of Skyblivion, and all the corpo simps told me that this was awesome actually… oh well wow, how surprising, they were wrong.

Support your friendly local mod team, they’re likely just actually better at making Bethesda games than Bethesda is.

Bethesda owns the elder scrolls series, no one can make an elder scrolls game without their approval.

        No, u.

It was co-developed, by two studios.

One of those studios is the main Bethesda studio.

Bethesda had no hand in the making of this game.

That’s what you said, and it is categorically false.

So now you’re shifting the goal posts.

… You could just admit you were wrong, and have an honest conversation, or, you can keep backpedalling and minimizing your mistakes, in hopes that I and anyone else who reads this just forgets.

I’m not shifting the goal posts or trying to turn this into a hissy fit you’re trying to create.

Bethesda themselves have been on record calling this “Virtuos’ game”.

People need to remember that Microsoft now owns Bethesda. You need to apply the same “every other version is good” mentality to their releases. So:

    • Oblivion - pretty good
    • Oblivion Remastered - shite
    • Whatever they decide to call the next release of Oblivion - pretty good

Of course, these days I’d just expect the to release Copilot for Oblivion and call it a day.

    The original oblivion was bad.

    Current Microsoft is bad.

    This is not surprising.

There are better games to spend time with.

It’s literally the most unstable, buggy, crash-prone piece of software I’ve ever used. I completed the game and got 100% of the cheevos, but it took me about 400% longer than it should have because I was having to relaunch the game every 5-10 minutes (not exaggerating, that’s how often it crashed).

Its truly amazing that I’ve seen basically this as a representative comment left on every single Bethesda game in the last 20 years.

… They just suck at writing code.

Its that simple, they’re terrible programmers.

Like yeah, they were due some leeway back in the old wild west days, back when they were basically a startup.

… Its 20 fucking years later, and everything is roughly the same amount of broken, despite them having more money than some small countries.

Its just a money laundering operation at this point.

Man, I stopped playing because an update broke my mods and I couldn’t be bothered fixing them at the time. Could’ve been playing safely for the last year.

It’s not always like this tho. There are exceptions and some very well done remastered editions.

The one that surprised me the most was Command & conquer. The amount of love they put in that remastered was such that made me buy an EA game (that one) for the first time since command & conquer tiberium wars.

Under MS and Bethesda IP ownership, we also had Quake remasters by Nightdive Studios and MachineGames, with stellar performance, rich additional content and crossplay. It’s not an undertaking comparable to openworld RPGs I suppose, in it’s assets alone, but that’s on management that should’ve given an according amount of time and resources to do it justice, and to observe what Bethesda does at each stage of production.
