Games@lemmy.world•Steam Controller (2026) - PCGamer ReviewEnglish
102·1 day agoThe downsides: due to replaceable AA battery, hull effect sticks are impossible due to them requiring a consistent output.
So basically it’s the worst controller imaginable?

Patient Gamers@sh.itjust.works•Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week?
1·5 days agoA while ago I posted about playing Pokémon Platinum and Castlevania: Circle of the Moon. I didn’t want to get into older games, because I felt they may be too ancient for me.
Well, now I’m playing Pokémon Yellow and the original NES Castlevania. Turns out I was completely wrong and these old ass games are a lot of fun.
I’m about to get the 5th badge in Pokémon, but my Pokédex is only at 41/151. As for Castlevania, I’m mostly hunting for achievements (retroachievements). Haven’t really felt like sitting down for 2-3 hours to beat the entire game yet, but will definitely do at some point.
EDIT: Also updated from an R36s to a Mangmi Air X. I’m absolutely in love with this retro handheld. Umbelievable value for the price.

55·5 days agoCrazy how long it takes for supposedly extremely brilliant scientists and engineers working at Evil LLC to realize that maybe their work is a net loss for humanity.
It’s almost as if… they just didn’t care and pretended to realize their mistakes once everything was well exposed. It’s like reading obviously satirical scientists’ memos in Resident Evil. Except it’s real life and they’re not satire.

World News@lemmy.world•EU formally approves €90bn Ukraine loan and 20th sanctions package against RussiaEnglish
19·5 days agoI think the sole fact that there have been 20 sanction packages means the sanctions are weak and aren’t achieving their goal.

World News@lemmy.world•Pope says people being ‘defrauded by the rich’ in latest forceful sermonEnglish
3·8 days agoLast year the Catholic Church reportedly generated €1.23B ($1.45B) in income. Which is more than the GDP of 10-13 poorest countries in the world, depending on which source you use.
Donations accounted for €237M ($279M) and are the Church’s largest source of income.
It also had a budget deficit lately, until last year. Overall it’s pretty rich, but not nearly as rich as a lot of companies are and as some people would think.
It should also be noted that Pope Leo has been pope for less than a year, which isn’t exactly a whole lot of time to completely reform the Church and rid it of corruption. Assuming that’s at all possible, since the Catholic Church has been corrupt pretty much since the moment it was founded. I’m not saying he will ever do that or that he even wants to. However, so far he’s been a lot better than last few popes, so let’s give him some time.
Sources:
Even that 13 million in 2004 is a fairly big sum of money for a single event, that requires practically no funds to run.
So called election spending is just propaganda spending, because all elections need are polling places. In my country they are mostly run by volunteers, making them essentially free. What was that 13 million dollars spent on?

Technology@lemmy.world•Thousands of CEOs admit AI had no impact on employment or productivityEnglish
20·9 days agoSame thousands of CEOs will continue implementing as much AI as possible, because it literally doesn’t matter to them whether or not it impacts employment or productivity.

The main problem with Xbox controllers is they are expensive and come with no battery. Including a rechargable battery pack, they cost more than a lot of better alternatives.
At this point it makes more sense to just buy a third party controller, which will be higher quality, as well as cheaper, and include features like hall effect sticks and more or less easily replaceable battery.
