i get this is c/lemmyshitpost, but there is nothing here that screams shitpost, and this is not how antibiotics work and it’s not how they are prescribed.

Life hack: use more than one, at the same time, arbitrarily, whenever you feel like it, unprescribed

      .

      please don’t actually do that

Really? Seems I can’t step a millimetre in a doctor’s office without them asking if I’m allergic to anything (turns out that being allergic to stupidity isn’t an issue when it comes to medical treatment).

I got meds that I previously explicitly said I am allergic too twice. I have food allergies and good meds with this food stuff in them 8 times now in the last 10 years

Correct. That would likely require extreme if not downright superhuman motor control, concentration, and patience.

And I can’t get surgery without having to stop them from prescribing me something I already told them I’m allergic to

Antibiotics are prescribed on a case by case basis and aren’t only designed for specific infections, I’ve been prescribed Levofloxacin and Doxycycline before for severe sinus infections.

Amoxicillin is used for way more than the examples shown - UTIs, dental infection, stomach ulcers, even Lyme disease. That’s the main one I know.

It says “broad spectrum”; while listing a few examples… what’d you want it to list every single thing it covers? ‘Broad’ means wide variety.

People often confuse viral infections as bacterial infection… instead one would require anti-viral. I’m sure it’s just people not knowing what ‘biotic’ is referencing.

Talk to your doctor before taking ciprofloxacin if you or family have EDS. It can do a number on your tendons

Cipro is brutal. Last time I took it 2 days in I felt like my tendons were disintegrating. I couldn’t even pour myself a cup of coffee without crying.

I was able to take it a couple times before without too much issue, but Jesus it doesn’t play around.
