For anyone wondering these are, legally speaking, ebikes. As in they squeezed a delivery truck into the legal definition for a bike to be able to use bike lanes.

Well then we need to change the definition of ebikes. Either that or we only allow private personal vehicles to use the bike lane.

That would mean a bike courier / delivery driver on an actually real bike would not be allowed anymore

In the Netherlands, delivery vehicles use bike lanes all the time, however, these are made by local manufacturers that aren’t as big as this

        For Example

There should be a common sense rule to laws. Like, sometimes you look at sobering and it’s obviously not right

Wtf for real?! Thats fucking wild

Edit: So does that mean they can legally park in all the bike lanes? Is the bike lane even usable by bicycles any more, or has it just turned into Amazon’s exclusive shipping lane?

Beats the fuck outta me, but I wouldn’t have thought those delivery vehicles would have been “bikes” either, fucko

In Europe these ‘cargo bikes’ are being accepted quite well. I don’t mind them. They’re slow, low carbon footprint, child safe… So why not? They do take up a lot of space but that’s because the cycle path is too narrow. More cyclepaths so cargo can be delivered by bike. That’s what we need.

So this asshole is dickish with his reply, but I call them a fucko and I’m the asshole, alright. ANYWAY. I wasn’t saying shit about having more bikes. How is this not obviously a huge win for amazon, tiny cars or not. You think this was the intent behind the bike lane laws? Abso-fuckin-lutely not.

You’re OK? Mind you that I’m from the EU and a daily bike commuter. I ride 25 km to work, every single day, and am very sensitive to the bike/car discourse. I really don’t see the issue so please explain without getting rude.

The bike lane is usable. I mean, for about a half-a-block at a time, cause of the parked cars.

I wish NYC would allow citizens to take a video of a car parked in the bike lane for more than a minute, issue a ticket, and make it profitable for the ticket issuer. All of the problems would go away overnight.

And actually, I wish we could take videos of cars going through red lights. Or, LOL, illegal u-turns. “Go around the block” is not a thing anymore. Everyone just turns around wherever the fuck they are.
