Games@lemmy.world•Roblox is pulling a DLSS 5, offering yet another example of a tool mistaking itself for an artistEnglish
243·11 hours agoSo Roblox is already complete shit exploitation machine but adding in this crutch as you put it to kids that are in the one of the most influential part of their development and making this the norm and to not develop any skills, to accept slop as art and not developing their own style and stunting their ability before it gets a chance to develop.
To use your own analogy, I see it as giving a perfectly able kid a crutch and teaching them that’s how to properly walk. You get fucked up adults that can never run.

11·1 day agoConsidering the publisher and parent company, Nacon, filed for insolvency and one of the reasons the studio is shutting down, it’s possible that it would be delisted.

9·1 day agoThat’s just a damn shame. I guess I’ll be on the look out for when greedfall 2 will be deslisted and see if I can grab it for a decent discount.

Games@lemmy.world•Thick As Thieves Will Cost $4.99, Early Access Includes 4 Hour Long CampaignEnglish
8·1 day agoI guess I would call this the Telltale model where you have episodic releases. My only concern would be the overall price a person for what would be considered the full game in the bastardization of the Paradox DLC model where the “complete” game is hundreds of dollars.
Still it would be a interesting early access experiment.

Technology@lemmy.world•Vibe Coding Will Break Your CompanyEnglish
16·1 day agoYup. AI might, and I mean might, be a force multiplier for senior developers but this whole “Everyone can just let AI code” is bullshit that will lead to a giant mess of unmanageable code when your developers your maturing don’t understand the underlying code or good software architecture.
Oh and also I’m right there with you with the fuck that whole ELOC bullshit as a metric.

Games@lemmy.world•PlayStation has seemingly added a 30-day DRM check to all newly purchased digital PS4 and PS5 gamesEnglish
9·3 days agoFor digital purchases? I don’t remember having that on my ps3 and 4 days for games that was purchased but then again it’s been literally a decade since I’ve used one.
The free PS+ games sure, you had to have a connection but for games you outright bought, as long as it was on installed your machine it was playable with or without a internet connection. That’s what I remember at least but then again, it’s been a very long time since I’ve used any console.

World News@lemmy.world•‘We will not survive’: Toyota, Honda and Ford CEOs issue chilling warning about China — and it could hit your portfolioEnglish
92·3 days agoThis has been reported on by multiple sources outside of the automotive industry about the rise of dark factories in China.
It’s not a secret that China has heavily invested in automation in part due to the necessity thanks to unforeseen consequences of the one child policy. There’s a very much lack of labor workers because the current generation are full of people who ultra emphasized education, even in rural areas, and this generation has no intention of working labor jobs. I don’t think Western countries, especially America with their abysmal education and having the average citizen reading at a sixth grade level wouldn’t be able to absorb that level of automation without tanking the economy unlike China’s unique situation.
Now what I’m going to probably find interesting is what’s going to happen when inevitably with the revocation of the one child policy and you see the next generation of young adults that may not have the same level of education since you now can’t pump all your resources in the singular kid and how that’s going to affect them. I do wonder how long this competitive advantage will last.
