This Isn’t related, but I just watched a short documentary on Hasidic Jews from New York. And they don’t believe that Israel should exist. There’s something in their holy text Saying you can’t establish a state for the Jews before the Messiah comes.

Too bad using religious text to settle geopolitical issues is never a good idea. The fact of the matter is that the state exists. Erasure of a state shouldn’t be on the table and that goes for any country out there no matter how heinous or insignificant. Both Israel and Palestine need to come to an agreement wherein both parties can coexist in the present, otherwise their leadership is failing. I like that speech the Kenyan Ambassador Martin Kimani made to the UN back in 2022 when Russia attacked Ukraine. Sometimes it’s best to let go of historical gripes and to look at how you can work together with the “now”, otherwise you will end up fighting for all eternity.

I agree with you. I don’t know much about the Jewish faith. I was just surprised to hear that some Jewish people weren’t pro Israel. And HasidicJews at that.

No worries. Wasn’t trying to lecture you, just thought your comment was a good segue. I appreciated your fact as well.

I often mention them when I’m making the point that claims that others are being anti-semitic when they criticize Israel because Israel represents the actual Jewish People (rather than just some people who are Jews plus a whole lot more people who are not) are the thing which is anti-semitic, since claiming that Israel represents the Jewish People denies the very clear and very explicitly voiced statements from a whole branch of the Jewish Religion about Israel not representing them.

Sure, Israel represents many people who are Jews, what it clear (in the face of not only this but also other Jewish groups such as for example Jewish Voices For Peace) is that it does not represent the Jewish People as a whole and if it does not represent the Jewish People as a whole then criticizing Israel is not criticizing the Jewish People and hence is not anti-semitism.
