It’s what some women look like, and the post you replied to didn’t imply otherwise.

1·3 days agoYeah I think that’s the way to look at it - as a fun experiment or stress test. Failing to serve coffee is pretty harmless.
No, obviously I’m talking about meth.
(Assuming this joke won’t land: technically methamphetamine has calories.)
Why eat fiber when there’s gum karaya? Why stop smoking when there are iron lungs??

Technology@lemmy.world•Iran mulls taking full control of all 7 undersea internet cables passing through Strait of HormuzEnglish
11·6 days agoA bit of an oversimplification. They shut everything down in the first weeks of the war, but have slowly been opening up again in the past few weeks, notably with paid packages that connect to the real internet.
This week they opened up a messenger that works internationally, even if you’re not using the paid international package. It looks like it’s based on the Chinese model, which is likely what Iran’s internet will be like going forward, with a complete purge of Cisco and other Western hardware as well.

Technology@lemmy.world•Iran mulls taking full control of all 7 undersea internet cables passing through Strait of HormuzEnglish
7·6 days agoNo. Iran has significant terrestrial cables as well as underwater cables. The Gulf states meanwhile rely on cables laid through the shallow and narrow Omani waters, which likely could be cut without affecting Iranian underwater cables, plus Iran has terrestrial redundancy.
The point of this would be to screw with American Big Data.

1·8 days agoYou’re not engaging in good faith. I already told you that I’m opposed to theocracy. And that’s not just something I’m thinking privately, I’ve actually tried to work toward realizing a different political system for Iran. I’m the kind of person that would be locked up in Iran, and there are millions of Iranians like me.
There’s a reason why I don’t live there anymore. Again - strip off some of your assumptions and maybe you can learn something.
I know two people who have done the same thing. Both are blonde and named Matilda.

11·8 days agoYou’re out of your element. This would have been an excellent opportunity for you to learn had you not been so arrogant. I’ve lived in Iran for several periods over the past 40 years including over 9/11 and multiple protest movements. I’ve kept myself informed on Iran’s political history since I was a child. Paying attention is the least of it.
Iran is a lot of things, and has many grave flaws, but it is not evil in the manner that Saddam’s Iraq was evil or that the United States is evil.
But go ahead and reinforce the brainwashing programming that your media has inflicted upon you. See what good it does you.
Yeah but there are a lot of assumptions in that. I try not to jump to conclusions, especially not negative ones. We all understand that this can go to shit in a million different ways. It can also go well.
Dumped is maybe not the right phrasing. Throughout history extended family and friends have helped raising children.

News@lemmy.world•Gasoline costs 50% more in the US than it did before the Iran war
1·9 days agoI’m Iranian. I’m opposed to theocracy, and for me and millions of other Iranians that’s not just a casual stance, it actually means you have to sacrifice some things. But I’ll also defend my country against foreign genocidal aggressors, and I won’t apologize for it.
I bet you have zero conception of what life in Iran is actually like so I don’t see much point in discussing the good and bad of the Iranian government. I’ll say this though: the depiction of Iran as a dictatorship is not only incorrect, it’s also a major driver of the failed policies of the West in dealing with Iran. Even if Iran is your enemy, it’s good to understand your enemy, and you don’t.
I think it’s the fact that you’re not in control that is the main issue. You’re working to fulfill someone else’s vision for their benefit, not yours.
But yeah, the sitting still all day is another layer of unfulfilling.

I guess technically men also have FUPA but I think in common parlance it is tightly associated with women. Size varies, as with everything else.
