Every iteration of this server has been made out of old personal hardware that I stopped daily driving for the last decade or so.
I guess this time around, it says something about the reduced amount im spending buying personal computers.

4·5 hours agoThe Chinese will likely be the first ones to know for certain considering that they’ve already demonstrated a willingness to spend a metric fuck ton into public infrastructure like the United States used to do for its military.

The person who created it likewise refused to protect it from profit motives because he also felt that it belonged to humanity and it became captured to the detriment of humanity as a result.

2·9 hours agoAgreed and all of those w tracks to squeeze out as much as we can from silicon.
There’s a limit that we haven’t yet reached but we will eventually because of those profits.
I bet that China will be the first to reach it since they’re willing to spend so much on all infrastructure.

3·10 hours agoi suspect that we’ve neared the end of what we can get out of using silicon and the only way forward, at this point, is to switch materials altogether into something like graphene or carbon; but i bet it would take a long time to ever do that because the profit motives that keeps on silicon won’t allow for it.

21·10 hours agoIt’s very easy to miss what women go through on a regular basis when you’re a man tbh.
but ULTRA surprising and VERY ego inflating when it does happen, but probably only so if you’re a man. lol
the movie touches on many of the problems/insecurities that young americans had to deal with back in the late-80’s/early-90’s and stands in stark contrast to the world of today’s millenials & genz adults, but it’s still familiar in deeply touching and troubling ways.
every time i watch it, it never fails to remind me of an aspect of life that i lived, but had completely forgotten about in the decades since then and Araki has a way of making each one feel like an old wound that you forgot you had like it’s some sort emotional battle scar from living life.
a VERY young ethan hawke is in it and i’ve never disliked anything he’s ever done. lol
