I do all of these except for the last two and I have been genuinely unrecognizable by people I once knew. Though I don’t really check the pH of the water I drink, I just make sure it is water that is safe to drink. The funniest encounter I’ve had though was my sister, who I don’t have much contact with, who seemed unsure if it was even me at first.

When I am running a game, I like to handout notes when people utilize any ability like that even if the note just says “You see nothing out of the ordinary.”

If that is the case. I have met many annoying ones. The ones who stand out the most are the mormon missionaries who stalked me one summer, that had me so on edge and staring over my shoulder.

12 years is hardly past the lifespan of a computer. That is only past the lifespan of the computer if you want to run the latest stuff, particularly games. I even have spinning disk drives from a brand that hasn’t existed since 2006 that work without errors. I just keep coming up with ideas to use my old ‘ewaste’ on for the fun of it, because that old hardware still works great even if slow by modern standards.

Am I living in a bubble? I have never met an annoying satanist. But I also don’t think I have ever met a Swiftie (are the fans called Swifties?) either.

It really was something else. I never quite got into the crafting, but going to the cities to strike up conversation with the smiths to get my gear repaired or other services I needed from the people playing crafters was an experience I’ve never really seen anywhere else. Everything and everyone had their place in that game world.

I loved UO when I was a kid, but I am not sure I could ever have the patience and dedication needed for such a game these days. Still though, so many fond memories from the Europa and Drachenfels servers. Would be amazing to relive, but can by brain handle it these days?

I wouldn’t even consider graduating in school as a sign of intelligence. It sure helps to be intelligent, but it’s not necessary.

I have family members who have not been able to ignore a single ad. Ads are by definition predatory. Some of us being able to tune them out to a large degree just means we’re not the prey they’re looking for.

I forget the name of the movie, but I do recall a swedish movie that was little more than a horror movie about a kid at a boarding school. I wish I remembered which one it was.

I am not entirely sure that is a Vista thing. I recall repairing and reinstalling 95, 98 and XP for less tech savvy friends for this same reason.

I hate buying anything for this reason. Always end up down some rabbit hole researching the product I am looking at, comparing it to other similar things, looking up peoples experiences with each one. Searching for information on it is always such a pain, the results on search engines are just places that have a financial interest in selling it to you.

I have this game on PC digitally. Afaik, it was never on steam or gog, it was only ever on EA’s own store and launcher. Seems to be delisted these days.

I came here for this post. I’ve worked a lot with cockroaches as an extension of working with animals to which cockroaches are a great source of nutrition and food… Actually dealing with the cockroaches required facial masks, because you do not want to breathe in the crap that ends up in their enclosure when cleaning. As said in your post, allergies and respiratory issues can happen.

I can only make arachnids and myriapods fun. I want to see someone make accounting fun though.

You know someone will show up with a special interest in whatever boring topic you pick and make it super interesting with all the lore and information they have on it.

Often you’re able to cancel it right away and still enjoy the entire free trial period. At least that used to be possible on some of those services offering free trials, I haven’t used any for years.

This thread make it sound like wisdom tooth removal is some huge surgery. I just had some local anesthesia as the tooth was pulled. Fun cracking sounds in my head, some bleeding from where the tooth was that stopped after an hour or two. But it was pretty quick and I could just go about my day afterwards.

I guess different places and different people?
