M30s in Milwaukee, WI. I’ll never say “no” to a meal at Naf Naf Grill!

Dang, your education paid off! I recently disabled fast-charging on my phone (ironically before reading any of this), so am I doing good, dad?

Is there an ELI5, foolproof, step-by-step tutorial? I tried Kleopatra on my own and was so completely befuddled; why is that, like, literally the only app out there in the whole world for PGP or GPG or whatever? Shouldn’t there be dozens of such encoders?

For the bad actor to toggle that “switch”, they would have to control the app.
Are you talking about physical control? Regardless, it’s closed-source… There is nothing that says they can’t also generate the keys on the other end that they had your devices generate. Outside of open source code that’s buildable from source, they can claim whatever they want about lack of access to switches.

I am so, so, so, so sorry on behalf of humanity in terms of everyone who has treated you like this. You didn’t deserve that. I am angry at myself already since I know I would be among them. It is so hard to change the shallowness, but we’ll try.

Did the guns ever have to be used (even in a bluffing manner)?

Fascinating, I didn’t know that that’s the reason… Would you happen to have any data on how long this diffusion process takes?

Sweet, go Netherlands! And I also wanna move my desktop to NixOS! Got any tips or warnings for a first-timer who’s mostly used just Mint?

That’s it: Nio! Yeah, I dislike the reliability on the company, too.

There actually was a Chinese EV startup that had battery swap stations: drive up onto the system, and the battery is directly under your car; the swap takes <1 minute. I don’t remember what it was called, though, nor if it ever made it.
Update: it’s Nio.

Indeed: electric vehicle batteries are lasting even longer than estimated. All the constant breaks from use that the batteries get has been interestingly improving their durability (which makes me think that shutting off our phones for 1 whole day per week or even month could improve their lifespan, even for the 40-80% lithium-ion boundary keepers).

The dozen-or-so global nodes are all in active collaboration and can change BTC’s programming with a majority vote (which is part of its core code, from what I barely remember reading), so they can simply roll with it. All deceased users’ wallets would eventually become bounties (like the original one by Nakamoto, who is probably dead), while everyone else would migrate to quantum-resistant wallets to keep up with the times with no problem.

We could have an amazingly decentralized messaging platform.
My good sir, the modern equivalent already exists and is called: https://www.matrix.org/

No, they didn’t answer the question; they only asked it. Gotta see the follow-through. This makes me think of the Palantir articles about how in reality their employees have been annoyed about being painted as bad guys, instead of genuinely questioning themselves.

Sincerely,
France

The entire French government is abandoning Windows for Linux. It is absolutely possible to change the entire ecosystem; just hard to hit that catalytic point, but more and more people are going that way, thankfully. Maybe they’ll even eventually find Lemmy!

I think the most ethical would be buying used, no?

now it’s just companies pushing to see how much they can be allowed to exploit you for the least cost.
On a directly related note, Linux is so awesome for being the most attainable it’s ever been. Too bad that its own transparency basically ensures that it may never become mainstream… But I still laud absolutely France for trying!
Hmm… true, fair! ∆
