🇺🇸 “Law that has allowed U.S. intelligence agencies to collect… overseas communications without needing search warrants is set to expire”

Here is a completely wild thought: instead of changing or renewing it, how about the USA stops ignoring people’s basic rights worldwide? 🤪

The 1978 FISA law was fine until it was expanded in 2008 to include sweeping up any domestic communications between Americans even remotely adjacent to a foreign target. And all of that was made searchable, discoverable and was used for fishing expeditions despite assurances that it would only be studied except for relevance to foreign targets. Dems controlled both houses of congress in 2008 and George Bush was president. The senate vote was 69-28 with 20 dems defecting to Bush’s side+ Joe Lieberman, of course. It was Feinstein and a bunch of dems who called themselves “centrists”.

Even with both houses of congress, about 40% of the Dems just couldnt find it in them to protect the privacy of the citizens and chose republican-lite. Its even worse now. Centrists are a key part of all of our problems. They need to be removed and their philosophies tossed in the dustbin of history for good.
