    1. Rolls-Royce - German owned
    2. Radio Caroline - British owned
    3. Twinings - British owned
    4. Cadbury - American owned
    5. Bass - Canadian/American owned
    6. Burberry - British owned
    7. Transport for London (TfL) Roundel - British designed
    8. Calpol - not a single product, just the British name for paracetamol
    9. Mini - German owned
    10. BBC - well, who knows at this point

So that’s not a great track record for our most iconic brands.

Calpol is a children’s brand of medicine.

It is remembered fondly because it tastes nice and we’re not allowed it after we get too old and we just have to swallow bitter tablets instead. But all British children remember pretending to be sick so they could have a spoonful of joy

The default position in any successful British venture is to sell it to overseas investors who will turn it in a shadow of itself to milk the residual goodwill.
