Today’s game is Shotgun Cop Man. I admit my interest in this was purely based on seeing something about it on some sort of live stream gaming event. I was watching with friends and went “Wow, this looks so fucking stupid in a good way, I need to try this”. Almost a year later and here we are.

So what is this game? Go to hell. Literally, that’s what it is. You play as Shotgun Cop Man who goes to hell to Arrest Satan. It controls what I imagine Super Meatboy controls like. It’s fun, and I really like it.

The game has an interesting control scheme which I really vibe with. You got the Shotgun which is your mobility basically. Need a big jump? Aim at the ground and propel yourself up.

then there’s the pistol/SMG/Smaller Shotgun. It serves a few uses such as being your Precision Weapon, along with a small more precise movement, and then also a Hover.

These two movement strategies combined for something I really enjoyed. It gets a bit much at times but it’s really satisfying to pull off when you get a really perfect run of a level.

I also just really like the way it looks. I know it looks stupid but I kind of want a Shotgun Cop Man to go on my desk. it’d be an interesting conversation starter too. “Oh, hey, what’s that freaky little weird thing on your desk?” “Oh, that’s just Shotgun Cop Man”.

Anyways, I wanted to show off this smaller Indie game I found and thought was fun and interesting. This is by no means an advertisement but it’s been a while since I’ve been this invested in a game at such a mechanical level.

My hand eye coordination is barely good enough to keep up with this game, but you are correct that it’s very tight. I’m thankful the aiming has lock on because i don’t think i could keep up otherwise

Sometimes I think about whether I should do a month long platforming bootcamp or something, there is such huge swath of great games I am cut off from by both struggling with and struggling to enjoy platforming. Both MIO: Memories In Orbit and REPLACED that released this year look phenomenal but… yeah. Platforming.
